Insurance
Inclusive of Taxes and Standard Insurance
All vehicles come inclusive of taxes and standard insurance, also known as Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). However, it is important for hirers to acknowledge that this standard insurance has a fixed excess of $3,000 before the commencement of the hire. By signing the rental agreement, all hirers accept this standard insurance and are liable for any panel damages to the rental vehicle.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) Options
To reduce the insurance excess, hirers can choose from the following optional Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) options:
- Excess NZ$2,000 – $10/Day
- Excess NZ$1,500 – $15/Day
- Excess NZ$1,000 – $20/Day
- Excess NZ$500 – $25/Day
- Excess NZ$0 – $30/Day
These options are completely optional and are available for purchase to provide customers with peace of mind. Just like the standard insurance, any LDW option must be selected before the commencement of the hire.
Important Information
- Eligibility: LDW options are only available for hirers over the age of 21 years. Proof of identification, such as a driver’s license, is required to confirm the hirer’s legal age.
- Travel Insurance: Ensure to check the coverage of your travel insurance policy as insurance excess for rental vehicles is usually covered under travel insurance.
- Credit Card Requirement: Your credit card details must be submitted at the commencement of hire for security reasons. This includes any incidental charges (e.g., refueling costs), even when accepting one of the LDW options to reduce the insurance excess.
